1971- Re-located at Karachi from erstwhile East Pakistan
1978- Shifted to its present campus (newly purpose built) at Hawks Bay Road, Mauripur.

1986- Affiliated with University of Karachi for award of B.Sc.(Pass) Degree in Maritime Studies to graduates on completion of two years training.

1988- State of the Art Simulators were installed at the Academy with cooperation of Japan (under Japan International Cooperation Agency):
Ship Maneuvering Simulator, Engine Plant Simulator, Radar/ARPA Simulator,

1997- Seamen Training Center(STC) was renamed as Seamen Training Wing(STW) and merged with PMA

2001- Declared as branch of World Maritime University(WMU), Malmo, Sweden

2002- Global Maritime Distress Safety System(GMDSS) Simulator was installed.

2002 -The examination system was changed from Percentage system to GPA system as per the standards.

2012- PMA got affiliated with NED University of Engineering & Technology. As per revised regulations of Higher Education Commission Pakistan, the two years B.Sc degree program was replaced with two years Associate Degree program, equivalent to B.Sc.(Pass). Since then, NED University of Engineering & Technology awards Associate Degree in Ship Management or Marine Engineering to PMA's Nautical and Engineering Cadets, respectively
